As low afternoon light pushed under the ominous black clouds and lit this westerly Snowdon amphitheatre, it spotlit features and topography and illuminated the huge bowl of the hill. I saw it as a vast theatre, and as curtains of clouds pulled apart overhead and wisps of low vapour danced underneath, there was an expectant air, of waiting for a performance to begin, for the actors to move around the stage. We sat on our distant hillside seat of Mynydd Mawr and awaited the gathering.
